What is it?

Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese word that means Universal Life Energy.  It is the energy that sustains all life.  In 1922 Dr. Mikau Usui developed a method of connecting to the energy, which is used primarily for the well-being of self but can also be transferred to others.  It is a natural healing system that uses the Universal Life Energy and sacred symbols to restore the natural balance and healing abilities of the body.  This in turn helps to prevent illness and disease.

Reiki is highly effective for in helping with both emotional and physical problems such as stress, emotional distress, low immune system, digestive disorders, fatigue, muscle and joint pain, and headaches.

What does it involve?

The treatment takes approximately an hour (although the first session may slighly longer) is done fully clothed in a quiet room. It can be done sitting in a chair or lying down. The Reiki therapist places their hands over or on key chakra areas and area's needing healing. Experience of the treament varies from person to person. Some may feel warmth, cold or tingling sensations whilst others may feel nothing at all. Regardless of the sensations the Reiki will be working on a much deeper level helping you to heal yourself from within.
